Little Lilt

This is a charming and very simple little waltz.  There are only four  chords in the left hand, which makes it very easy to concentrate on the right hand melody.

The melody is composed of a series of “drop lifts” which are pairs of notes phrased together.     The student should drop his fingers lightly onto the first note of each pair and lift gracefully on the second.   It is a single motion with the first note slightly louder.   Be careful not to play the second note of the pair as pizzicato.  It isn’t a jump …. it’s a lift.   Float off the note and drop on the next note pair.

Little Lilt

This is a nicely formatted PDF file which will print to a standard 8 1/2 by 11 sized sheet.   I used card stock which is easy to handle and stays flat on the piano rack.

And to hear “Little Lilt” played live by the composer, here’s a clip..
